Before You Get Started

  1. Determine if you need a new water heater. It may be time for a replacement if your current one is producing discolored water, you aren’t getting enough hot water, it’s leaking and making noise, or it’s over 10 years old.
  2. Learn more about heat pump water heaters at energystar.gov.
  3. Make sure you choose the right size to meet your hot water needs.
  4. Ensure you have the right tools and materials for installation or hire a professional to assist with the process.

Submitting Your Rebate Application

Be prepared to provide us with the following documents:

  1. The contractor and/or retailer’s invoice is required to receive this rebate and must reflect the system model number.
    • If the receipt does not include the model number, be sure to submit a copy of the retailer’s item description that can be matched to the proof of purchase.
  2. Proof of ENERGY STAR® qualification is also required to receive this rebate.
Rebate Requirements & FAQs

Requirements: All receipts/invoices must be dated and submitted within six (6) months of the date of purchase.

  • The contractor and/or retailer’s invoice is required to receive this rebate and must reflect the system model number.
  • If the receipt does not include the model number, be sure to submit a copy of the retailer’s item description that can be matched to the proof of purchase.
  • If purchasing a water heater and having it installed professionally, include the receipt for your purchase as well as the installer’s invoice.

Eligibility: Available to OUC electric customers. The Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) for qualifying models ranges from 2.2-3.3 or higher. 

Reimbursement: Customers will receive an approval email once the application has been submitted, reviewed and approved by one of our conservation support specialists. Rebate will be paid as a credit on your bill.

Exemptions: Not available for OUC water-only customers. This rebate is not available for electric tankless/on-demand or gas water heaters.
