Understanding Your Bill and Finding Ways to Save

In Central Florida, we’re used to seeing utility bills increase as summer inches closer. This page includes reasons why you may see an increase in costs, and ways you and your family can work together to keep your usage and bill at bay.
Let us help you determine why your bill may be more than you expected. If you’ve experienced a financial hardship, we’re also here to help with assistance programs to help you during these unprecedented times.
Understand Your Usage
Track Your Usage Every Day
The key to being a smart utility consumer is understanding when you and your family use the most energy and water.
Learning your daily usage patterns can help you make informed decisions on how to save. That’s why OUC offers you an online Usage Dashboard that can tell you your hourly usage numbers and even lets you set email, text or phone alerts to be sent to you when your household reaches a pre-determined threshold.
To view the Usage Dashboard, simply log into your myOUC Online Profile and click the blue View Usage button in your Account Summary. Be sure to allow pop-ups, as the dashboard will open in a new window.

Understanding Your Bill
Your monthly billing statement not only shows how much you owe, but also monthly electric and water usage comparisons via easy-to-read charts. Many customers are seeing much higher usage data now compared to just a year ago.
More Time at Home
The A/C running constantly, cooking multiple meals per day, toilets flushing, etc. is raising electric and water consumption. Higher usage leads to higher bills!

Find Ways to Use Less Energy & Water

Practice Efficiency Measures Around Your Home
From proper A/C settings to eliminating water leaks, there are a number of actions you can take around your home to help keep your electric and water usage lower.
Hot Weather
Trying to cool your home as temperatures soar can keep your A/C working overtime. In fact, your A/C accounts for nearly 52% of energy use in your home.
The more your A/C runs, the more your electric usage adds up. Learn more by following these simple tips to keep cool.

Gain Control of Your Payments
Pay as you go with OUC Power Pass
OUC Power Pass is a prepaid program that allows you to pay-as-you-go for utility services. Instead of getting a monthly bill, you can check your electric usage every day and add funds as you need. And there are never reconnection or late fees for participants.
Inquire about a payment plan
We understand paying your monthly bill in full could be a challenge right now. To help, we may be able to set up a payment plan for you.
You can make this request by speaking to a customer service representative by calling (407) 423-9018.

Residential Payment Assistance Through Project CARE
Project CARE helps provide emergency assistance to those in our community who have experienced a recent personal or family crisis that has placed them in danger of losing their utility service.
OUC customers who need assistance should contact United Way 2-1-1. United Way will then help the customer locate an agency near their home so that eligibility and need can be determined.
Under the program, a household can receive a maximum benefit of $500 in a one-year period.
